Citizenship Application
Citizenship Application
Canada offers citizenship through naturalization and by birth in Canada. Many Canadian people who have weathered the immigration procedure look forward to having granted citizenship by IRCC and are excited for the day they can be called an official Canadian citizen. Before that dream comes true, there are a few essential steps that are needed to be addressed to get the Canadian citizenship application approved.
To qualify for citizenship through naturalization, Canadian residents with 3 years of qualifying permanent resident status during the preceding 5 years may apply for Canadian citizenship.
Time spent in Canada as a legal temporary resident prior to obtaining permanent residence is counted as half time up to a maximum of 365 days.
Once the application for Canadian citizenship is approved, you will be required to take a citizenship test (for applicants between 18 and 54). Successful applicants must then attend a citizenship ceremony where you receive a certificate of Canadian citizenship and officially become new Canadian citizens.
